Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2023 - 2024 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 13, 2023 04:05 PM
From: Senator Doug Mastriano
To: All Senate members
Subject: PA VET Connect

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation which would codify the PA VETConnect Program into law.
Housed within the Department of Military & Veterans, Affairs, PA VETConnect aims to connect Pennsylvania’s 700,000 plus veterans to the resources available to them in their communities and across the Commonwealth.

Under PA VETConnect, the Department of Military Affairs determines a veteran’s needs -- finds the resources that meet those needs -- and connects the veteran to the right resources.  Furthermore, PA VETConnect assists service members with reintegration into their communities following their military service.  PA VETConnect was  awarded a 2022 “Pillars of Excellence Award” by the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The “Abraham Lincoln Pillars of Excellence” Award was established in 2012 by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to evaluate state programs and establish best practices for other state agencies to follow for greater success and efficiency.

This legislation mirrors House Bill 995, P.N. 2381, which was unanimously reported from the Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee last Session.

Introduced as SB447
