AN ACT 1 Designating a bridge on State Route 3012 over Clearfield Creek 2 in Beccaria Township, Clearfield County, as the Private First 3 Class Bradley G. Kritzer Bridge; AND REDESIGNATING THE BRIDGE <-- 4 OVER THE MONONGAHELA RIVER KNOWN AS THE CLAIRTON-GLASSPORT 5 BRIDGE, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NO. 02-2038-0010-0140, 6 WHICH CONNECTS THE CITY OF CLAIRTON TO THE BOROUGH OF 7 GLASSPORT IN ALLEGHENY COUNTY, AS THE SENATOR EDWARD P. 8 ZEMPRELLI BRIDGE. 9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 10 hereby enacts as follows: 11 Section 1. Designation of bridge in Clearfield County. 12 (a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as 13 follows: 14 (1) Private First Class Bradley G. Kritzer was a native 15 of Jordan Township, Clearfield County, and a 2003 graduate of 16 Moshannon Valley High School. 17 (2) Bradley Kritzer was described by his high school
1 principal as "someone with a lot of heart...a good student, a 2 quiet student...a friend to everyone and well-liked by the 3 student body." 4 (3) Upon graduation Bradley Kritzer enlisted in the 5 United States Army, and upon completion of basic military 6 training he received advanced specialty training in missile 7 systems. 8 (4) In March 2004, Private Kritzer was deployed to Iraq 9 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was assigned to 10 Battery A, 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 11 Division Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division. 12 (5) Private Kritzer was killed in action on May 5, 2004, 13 when an improvised explosive device detonated beneath his 14 vehicle. 15 (6) Private Kritzer's duty, performance and selfless 16 service are in keeping with the highest traditions of 17 military service and reflect great credit upon him, the 18 United States Army and our nation. 19 (7) Private Kritzer, beloved son of Roger and Sharon 20 Kritzer, was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze 21 Star. 22 (b) Designation.--The bridge on State Route 3012 over 23 Clearfield Creek in Beccaria Township, Clearfield County, is 24 hereby designated as the Private First Class Bradley G. Kritzer 25 Bridge. 26 (c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and 27 maintain appropriate signs at each side of the bridge displaying 28 the name of the bridge. 29 SECTION 2. 1 (A) FINDINGS.--THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF
2 PENNSYLVANIA FINDS AND DECLARES AS FOLLOWS:
3 SENATOR EDWARD P. ZEMPRELLI WILL BE HONORED FOR HIS 25
4 YEARS OF DEVOTED PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF
5 ALLEGHENY COUNTY. AMONG HIS MANY ACHIEVEMENTS, SENATOR
6 ZEMPRELLI SERVED FIVE YEARS AS A STATE REPRESENTATIVE
7 PRIOR TO SERVING 20 YEARS AS A STATE SENATOR WHERE HE
8 SERVED AS BOTH MAJORITY LEADER AND MINORITY LEADER.
9 (B) REDESIGNATION.--THE BRIDGE OVER THE MONONGAHELA RIVER
10 KNOWN AS THE CLAIRTON-GLASSPORT BRIDGE, DEPARTMENT OF
11 TRANSPORTATION NO. 02-2038-0010-0140, CONNECTING THE CITY OF
12 CLAIRTON AND THE BOROUGH OF GLASSPORT, ALLEGHENY COUNTY, IS
13 HEREBY REDESIGNATED AS THE SENATOR EDWARD P. ZEMPRELLI BRIDGE.
14 (C) SIGNS.--THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SHALL ERECT AND
15 MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE SIGNS DISPLAYING THE NAME OF THE BRIDGE
16 REDESIGNATED IN SUBSECTION (B) TO TRAFFIC IN BOTH DIRECTIONS ON
17 THE BRIDGE.
18 Section 2 3. Effective date. <--
19 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
