Subject: | Co-sponsorship of Legislation – Veterans Plate for Female Veterans |
January 3, 2013M E M O R A N D U MSUBJECT: Co-sponsorship of Legislation – Veterans Plate for Female Veterans TO: All House Members FROM: Representative Karen Boback Room 141-B, East Wing In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation that will create a new license plate in Pennsylvania to honor women soldiers and airman. My proposal will amend Title 75 (Vehicles) to create a special plate for female veterans who have served honorably in the United States armed forces or their reserve components. My legislation will simply require an initial $20 fee, which will be in addition to the annual registration fee. The license plate will only be used on a passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds. I believe that as a state we should do what we can to recognize the significant role that female veterans have played in the history of both our state and nation. The percentage of women in America’s military force continues to grow and many of them are pilots, medical staff and logistics support personnel whose duties place them and their responsibilities on the front lines of our current wars and they continue to serve in all ranks and in all theaters of the world. This legislation is identical to House Bill 1869 that I introduced last session. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. Thank you for your interest and support.
