Subject: | Cosponsorship of Legislation: Condolence Resolution for Petty Officer Nicolas D. Checque |
In the near future, we will be introducing a condolence resolution honoring the life of United States Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Nicolas D. Checque. Petty Officer Checque, a Navy SEAL, died on December 8, 2012, of combat-related injuries. He sustained his fatal injuries while participating in SEAL Team Six’s successful rescue of a physician and two aid workers who were being held captive in Afghanistan. SEAL Team Six also participated in the operation that resulted in the death of Osama Bin Laden. Petty Officer Checque, 28 when he died, enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Norwin High School in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania in 2002. He not only attained his longstanding goal of becoming a SEAL, he also became a member of elite SEAL Team Six, the “Naval Special Warfare Development Group.” Petty Officer Checque served this country honorably and selflessly. He died, according to those close to him, doing what he loved. The resolution honors his life and extends condolences to his family. |
