Subject: | Bridge Designation: Sidney N. Hamer Memorial Bridge (Former HB-2254) |
I will be reintroducing HB-2254 of the 2011-2012 legislative session designating the bridge carrying State Route 45, crossing the Little Juniata River in Spruce Creek Township, Huntingdon County as the Sidney N. Hamer Memorial Bridge. Sergeant First Class Sidney N. Hamer, was a native of Spruce Creek Pennsylvania and enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for 20 years. SFC Hamer was in G Company, 35th Infantry, a part of Swift’s 25th Infantry Division of the United States Army. Sergeant First Class Hamer’s unit was deployed to Seoul, Vietnam for service in connection with ground operations against a hostile force during August 1968 to August 1969. Sergeant First Class Hamer was awarded 17 ribbons and medals including the Bronze Star. SFC Hamer, courageously served his country and the campaign for freedom and his excellence as a soldier has been extolled by many. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.
