Subject: Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative
 
In the near future, a six bill package will be introduced which focuses on issues regarding freedom in the workplace. They will give workers the right to decide where they work and what organizations they join.

We request your support in pursuit of freedom in the workplace.

The following proposals will prohibit compulsory unionism and make Pennsylvania a Right To Work state:

Introduced as HB50

Description: House Bill 50 (Metcalfe) This legislation would prohibit employment from being conditional upon membership or non-membership in a labor organization. Compulsory dues would be prohibited for non-union members and would apply to both public and private sector employees.

Description: House Bill 250 (Bloom) This legislation would permit public employees to opt out of their union membership at any time during their contract. Currently, under the Public Employee Relations Act, employees can only opt out of their union membership 15 days prior to the expiration of their contract. This legislation would provide public employees the freedom to terminate their union membership at any time.
