Subject: | Small Games of Chance - Sharing of Licensed Premise |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will give licensed organizations under the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act the ability to share a licensed premise. As you know, many of our charitable organizations are facing a dilemma when it comes to where they can hold their games. Under the Act, there is a restriction that two licensed organizations cannot share a location, unless certain circumstances allow it. When they are permitted to share, the host or home organization has to cease the operation of their games. Organization have been cited because one organization was conducting games in one part of the building, while another was holding games in a different part of the building. In addition, in many rural areas, there are limited locations for organizations to use to play small games of chance. The legislation I am proposing would allow them to share a location without any restrictions and allow them to operate games at the same time as well. By lifting this restriction on our organizations, it would allow our organization to have more opportunities to raise money from small games of chance because the host group will not have to cease their games. This, in turn, allows the organization to donate more money to public interest purposes. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. KB:brz |
