Subject: | Resolution Celebrating the 110th Anniversary of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution to celebrate the 110th Anniversary of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association. The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) was established in 1903 and is essential in advancing, promoting and supporting professional nursing to improve health for all in the Commonwealth. At one point, PSNA evolved as a union for nurses, operating as the “Pennsylvania Nurses Association” (PNA). As the needs of the profession of nursing changed, so did the association. In April 1998, the members of PNA voted to form two separate and distinct organizations for nurses in the state. On July 1, 1998 the PSNA evolved again and operated solely as a professional organization for nurses with no collective bargaining services. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to celebrate the association’s 110th anniversary and their contributions to the profession of nursing in Pennsylvania. |
