MEMORANDUM To: All Members of the House of Representatives From: Representative Patty Kim Date: April 4, 2013 Subject: Resolution Honoring Korean Veterans of the Vietnam War In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution that honors the service and sacrifice of our nation’s Korean Veterans of the Vietnam War. The United States entered the Vietnam War to prevent a Communist takeover of South Vietnam and more than three million American troops fought heroically in the cause of freedom and democracy. From 1964 through 1973, more than 325,000 Korean soldiers were sent to Vietnam to support American troops at the request of the United States. Throughout the conflict, Korean soldiers were known for their effectiveness and bravery. Sadly, a reported 5,099 Korean soldiers were killed and 10,962 were injured during the war. Please join me in recognizing the significant and enduring accomplishments of our nation’s Korean Veterans by co-sponsoring this resolution and help me preserve the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. |
