Subject: | The Donated Dental Services Act |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation, The Donated Dental Services Act. This legislation will be a companion bill for Senate Bill 290, sponsored by Senator Edwin Erickson. The Donated Dental Services Act would establish the Donated Dental Services Program to be maintained by the Department of Health in consultation with the Dental Lifeline Network. The program consists of volunteer dentists providing comprehensive dental care for needy, disabled, aged, and medically compromised individuals who cannot afford necessary treatment but are ineligible for public assistance. Services may be provided in the dentist’s office or another designated location. The Act requires the department to contract with the Dental Lifeline Network for administration of the program and details the contract terms. It appropriates $150,000 for FY 2013-2014 to carry out the provisions of the Act. If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Bonnie Book at bbook@pahousegop.com or 787-6886. |
