Subject: | Resolution Recognizing and Congratulating Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on Its 100-Year Anniversary |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing and congratulating Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on its 100-year anniversary. Delta Sigma Theta is the largest African-American women’s organization in the United States. It has over 900 chapters and more than 250,000 initiated members worldwide. There are 10 alumnae and 10 collegiate chapters here in Pennsylvania. Under the theme “A Sisterhood Called to Serve: Transforming Lives, Impacting Communities,” Delta Sigma Theta operates a number of programs that positively impact the lives of people in communities around the world. Notable programs include Delta Day at the UN, Delta Academy (for girls ages 11 to 14), Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (EMBODI), Financial Fortitude, and Mary Help of the Sick Mission Hospital (a maternity hospital in Kenya). Please join me in recognizing and congratulating Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on its 100-year anniversary. Thank you for your support of this legislation. |
