Subject: | Counterfeit Airbag Prevention Act |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation which will establish the Counterfeit Airbag Prevention Act. This bill will make it unlawful for an individual to knowingly make, distribute, sell, install or re-install a counterfeit or nonfunctional airbag. It will also prevent the tampering of a readiness indicator light. As legislators, one of our primary duties is to protect the people we serve. The growing problem of counterfeiting automobile parts in the U.S. is of major concern and needs to be addressed. New York recently passed their own Counterfeit Airbag Prevention Act in order to protect consumers from the installation of potentially fatal counterfeit airbags. My legislation mirrors that of New York. Please join me in sponsoring this important piece of legislation in order to better protect the citizens of this Commonwealth. Thank you for your consideration. |
Introduced as HB1659
