Subject: | Proposed Legislation - Repeal Delivery of Floood Insurance Report |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation that repeals a requirement that the General Assembly be furnished with a print copy of an annual report required under the Flood Insurance Education and Information Act of 1996. Act 10 of 1996 requires the Insurance Commissioner to issue a flood insurance consumer education plan annually to encourage PA residents to purchase and maintain flood insurance. The law specifically calls for a report detailing the plan to be delivered no later than March 1 of each year to the General Assembly. Since this mandated report and other flood-related insurance data is readily available online at the Department’s website, my legislation will simply remove the requirement to produce a physical copy of the report to the General Assembly. In these tough economic times, it only makes sense to cut down on the cost of producing paper reports that are already available for public review. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
