Subject: Co-Sponsorship Memo: Legislation to Remove Sibling Labeling

In the future I plan to introduce legislation amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) that would remove the labeling of siblings differentiated between each other. I feel siblings are not necessarily defined by biological relationships. Why should full blood siblings have a different standing in society than step-siblings and half-siblings? Research shows that there are similar dynamics between step-siblings and half-siblings that have the same interaction as regular siblings.

I feel the law needs to be changed because I believe there is not a difference between siblings related by blood and those who are not blood-siblings. All siblings should be treated the same in the court of law and through the adoption process.
