Subject: | Bridge Designation - 2nd Lt. Carol Ann Drazba Memorial Bridge |
In the very near future I will be introducing a bridge naming bill in honor and memory of 2nd Lt. Carol Drazba. a portion of S.R. 2020 over Interstate 81, in the Borough of Dunmore, Lackawanna County, will be named the 2nd Lt. Carol Ann Drazba Memorial Bridge. 2nd Lt. Drazba was an operating nurse in the Army, joining in 1964. She volunteered for service in the Vietnam War after completion of basic training at Ft. Sam Houston, arriving in Vietnam near Saigon in November 1965 at the 3rd Field Hospital's surgical ward. After receiving an R & R weekend pass, her transport helicopter crashed. 2nd. Lt. Drazba died February 18, 1966. She was the first American female to be killed in action during the Vietnam War. She was an excellent operating room nurse and soldier, who gave her life for her country. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
