Subject: | Resolution Recognizing the 100th Anniversary of Old Home Week Celebration of the Borough of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Old Home Week celebration of the Borough of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. Old Home Week was a community event which originated in the northeastern region of the United States around the turn of the 20th Century which encouraged expatriates to return and visit relatives and old friends. Catasauqua’s first Old Home Week was held from June 28, 1914 until July 4, 1914, and also observed the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Crane Iron Works. The Old Home Week also celebrated Catasauqua’s good fortune attributed to the operation of the Crane Iron Works, and included daily themes featuring churches, schools, fraternal, civic organizations, fire companies, and other local organizations. The residents of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Old Home Week celebration from June 27, 2014 until July 6, 2014. This celebration will feature many events whose focus will be on Catasauqua’s history and the potential for the Borough’s future. I hope you will consider joining me in commemorating this celebration for the residents of the Borough of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. |
