Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 18, 2014 10:50 AM
From: Representative Matthew E. Baker
To: All House members
Subject: Highway Charitable Solicitations

I will be introducing a bill that authorizes certain charitable organizations to solicit funds on highways. It will allow any charitable organization registered under the Solicitation of Funds for Charitable Purposes Act, and which has the approval of the political subdivision where the solicitation occurs, to stand on a roadway for the purpose of soliciting contributions by adding an exception to the rule that bans such activities.

The political subdivision may base their decision regarding approval or disapproval on public safety issues. If you would like to join me in cosponsoring this legislation, which will encourage the fundraising efforts of these charitable entities, please contact my office.

Introduced as HB2527
