Subject: | Eichelberger-Public Worker Paycheck Protection |
I will be re-introducing legislation which would prohibit a government entity from being compelled by any private organization to deduct money from the paycheck of a public employee. The exceptions to this rule would include prior written authorizations from the employee for the benefit of charity or a court order pertaining to that individual employee. I believe that opening an employee’s paycheck to directives from outside organizations has the potential of not only burdening the employee financially, but also can violate an employee’s free speech and proprietary interests with regard to his or her wages. In the 2011-2012 session, the bill was Senate Bill 1040. Cos-sponsors were: FOLMER, WAUGH, ALLOWAY, PICCOLA, BRUBAKER, D. WHITE, M. WHITE AND MENSCH |
