Subject: | MESA Initiative |
In the near future I plan on reintroducing the MESA initiative legislation. I will be introducing the amended version of SB172 of last session. Previous co-sponsors were: Boscola, Costa, Erickson, Greenleaf, Tartaglione, Williams, Ferlo, and Farnese. The purpose of this legislation is to increase and motivate educational achievement in the areas of mathematics, engineering, and science (MESA). The MESA initiative would be established within the Department of Education and would work in conjunction with the STEM regions throughout the Commonwealth, PDE, other Commonwealth Agencies, and Institutes of Higher Education to develop annual goals and objectives focused on the educational needs of the STEM region. A MESA Commission would be created under the PDE to oversee the advancement in the MESA areas. Please join me in sponsoring this worthy legislation to increase the learning opportunities in these vital areas. |
Introduced as SB924
