Subject: | Electronic Absentee Ballot Return For Military and Overseas Voters |
In the near future I will be introducing legislation to require the PA Department of State to develop a secure online system for military and overseas voters to return their absentee ballot electronically. Currently, military and overseas voters can receive their absentee ballot by secure electronic connection but they still have to print out the ballot and fill it out by hand and return it by mail. My legislation will give military and overseas voters the option of returning their ballot by secure electronic means. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 30 states plus the District of Columbia offer some form of electronic ballot return for uniformed military and overseas voters. It is time for Pennsylvania to join the majority of other states that offer members of the military and overseas voters the ease and accessibility of electronic voting. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation. If you have questions about this legislation please contact Tim Golding of my staff at 717-787-5839 or by email at tgolding@pasenate.com. |
