Subject: | Memo #26 - Resolution Recognizing the 13th Anniversary of the NEW Leadership Pennsylvania Program |
Next week, I plan to offer a resolution recognizing the 13th anniversary of the National Education for Women’s (NEW) Leadership Pennsylvania program offered by Chatham University’s Pennsylvania Center for Women and Politics (PCWP). PCWP is a nonpartisan center devoted to fostering women’s public leadership through education, empowerment and action. Established in 1998 and endowed in 2003 by the Hillman Foundation, the Center is the first of its kind to focus on women’s political involvement in Pennsylvania. Each year, approximately 35 students from colleges and universities across Pennsylvania are selected to attend the NEW Leadership program. It is an intensive, week–long, residential leadership and public policy institute designed to educate and empower young women for future political participation and public office. I encourage you to join me in commemorating the work of the PCWP, the NEW Leadership program and the over 300 Pennsylvania women who have graduated from the program. If you are interested in cosponsoring my resolution, please register no later than 5 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Thank you for your kind consideration of this request. |
