Subject: | Co-Sponsorship: National Walking Day |
In the near future, we will be introducing a resolution to recognize April 2, 2014 as National Walking Day in Pennsylvania which is sponsored by the American Heart Association. Regular walking has many proven benefits for an individual’s overall health. Brisk walking for 30 minutes a day can lower both bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and high blood pressure. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that physically active people spend less on direct medical care, and they live longer, healthier lives. This year, we urge you to support the fight against heart disease. Talk to your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors about the benefits of walking, and start improving your own health by walking your way to wellness. |
