Subject: | Juror Appreciation Week in Pennsylvania |
Please join us in sponsoring a resolution to recognize June 9-13, 2014 as Juror Appreciation Week. The right to a trial by jury is guaranteed by the United States and the Pennsylvania Constitutions. It is one of the fundamental rights that we enjoy as citizens of the United States and is one of the oldest rights we enjoy stretching back to the thirteenth century in England. However, this right is carried out by citizens who perform their important duty to serve on juries both in criminal and civil matters in the courts of the Commonwealth and the United States. The purpose of this resolution is to both recognize this fundamental right and the citizens who serve or have served as jurors by designating the week of June through 13, 2014 as “Juror Appreciation Week.” Thank you for your attention and consideration to this information. |
