Subject: | Resolution -- Pennsylvania Education for Youth Experiencing Homelessness Awareness Week |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution that designates October 25 through November 1, 2014 as “Pennsylvania Education for Youth Experiencing Homelessness Awareness Week”. The purpose of this resolution is to educate the public about the prevalence of youth experiencing homelessness. During the 2012-2013 school year, 22,618 students in Pennsylvania schools were homeless or without adequate housing. We need to shine a light on this problem and do what we can to help these young people. This resolution is meant to encourage schools, communities and individuals to plan for and support assistance programs for youth experiencing homelessness as they look to complete their education. Please join me in bringing awareness to this important issue. If you have any questions please contact my office at 717-787-3110. |
