Subject: | Legislation to Address Suspected Cancer or Disease Clusters |
I am reintroducing Senate Bill 1143 from last session. This legislation establishes a process for the Department of Health and the Department of Environmental Protection to follow whenever there is a suspected cancer or disease cluster. The legislation provides for a definition of a “disease or cancer cluster” and provides the Department of Health with clear authority to investigate the possible causes. The bill would also allow for the development of an interdisciplinary response team to investigate suspected cancer or disease clusters. The Department of Health will also be allowed to establish community advisory committees in areas where there is a suspected cancer or disease cluster. Last session the following Senators were cosponsors: SOLOBAY, RAFFERTY, FARNESE, ARGALL, SCHWANK, FONTANA, LEACH, TARTAGLIONE, COSTA AND BOSCOLA |
Introduced as SB165
