Subject: | MLK “Week of Remembrance” in PA Resolution |
In the VERY near future I intend to introduce a resolution that honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This resolution will recognize the week of January 18th through January 25th, 2015, as “Martin Luther King, Jr., Week of Remembrance” in Pennsylvania. I firmly believe that those who do not study and remember history are doomed to repeat it. Dr. King was a man who fought for equality for all people --every race, color and creed--and fought tirelessly to realize equal protections for all. His efforts have not been in vain, not if we keep watch over and remembrance of those efforts. Obviously, since our National Holiday for Dr. King is the third Monday of January and this year, Monday January 19th, 2015 is Martin Luther King Day, I will be expediting the introduction of this resolution. A copy of the language is attached for your review. I sincerely hope you’ll all join in cosponsoring this resolution. Thank you. |
