Subject: | Pennsylvania Transit Workers Awareness Day |
In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution that would designate March 18, 2015, as “Pennsylvania Transit Workers Awareness Day.” Transit workers are an integral part of our Commonwealth’s infrastructure. Pennsylvanians in all 67 counties, rural and urban, rely on public transportation to get where they need to go, whether that is work, school, the doctor’s office, the hospital, or the store. Mass transit also helps relieve traffic congestion and reduces our impact on the environment. The backbone of this great system is the transit workers who keep it running, safely and dependably. Transportation technology is constantly evolving, producing safer, cleaner-running, more reliable, and more comfortable vehicles. As such, transit workers are required to pursue vigorous and continuous training to keep up with these technological changes and ensure riders who rely on these services get where they need to be, when they need to be there. Please join me in supporting this legislation and honoring these hard-working Pennsylvanians. |
