Subject: | Composition of the Pennsylvania Game Commission |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would prevent current or former Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) employees or deputy conservation officers from serving as appointed PGC commissioners. The PGC is comprised of eight citizens of this Commonwealth who are well informed on the subject of wildlife conservation and restoration. These individuals are appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate. My bill would specify that current and former employees or deputy conservation officers of the commission cannot serve as PGC commissioners. Additionally, in all wildlife management decisions, the commissioners would be guided by the principles of best management practices, with equal regard for the social, economic and recreational impacts of their decisions. I hope you will join me by co-sponsoring this legislation. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
