Subject: | Conodoguinet Bridge |
In the near future I will be introducing legislation redesignating a portion of the Conodoguinet Bridge, Hopewell Township, Cumberland County, as the Army Pfc. Harold “Sam” E. Barrick Memorial Bridge. Pfc. Barrick was killed in action in Vietnam on April 8, 1968. Born on December 16, 1947, in Newville, Cumberland County, he was a 1965 graduate of Big Spring High School. He joined the United States Army in 1967 and was killed in action in Vietnam on April 8, 1968. Prior to his death, Pfc. Barrick was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. He also received the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal posthumously. The portion of Conodoguinet Bridge to be redesignated is near Pfc. Barrick’s birth place home. It is currently being replaced and is under construction. |
