Subject: | Developmental Disabilities Council Resolution (former HR 826) |
In the near future, I plan to re-introduce a House Resolution recognizing the work of the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council. The Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council is a group made up of people with disabilities, family members, advocates and state department representatives who work to create favorable conditions for people with developmental disabilities and their families in the Commonwealth. The Council is authorized through the federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 1963. In order to assure the purpose of this Act, Councils are charged with engaging in three main activities in support of individuals with developmental disabilities—systems change, capacity-building and advocacy. The Council funds proposals from groups and organizations through a competitive bid process to create a better future for Pennsylvanians with disabilities. I am introducing this resolution to recognize the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council and its commitment to the citizens of this Commonwealth. |
