Subject: Resolution designating April 21, 2015 as "Independent College and University Day" in Pennsylvania.
 
Pennsylvania is blessed to have more than ninety independent non-profit colleges and universities throughout the state serving nearly 300,000 students or 41% of the total students enrolled in the Commonwealth. Pennsylvania’s independent colleges and universities award 48 % of all bachelor’s degrees and educate more working adults than public four-year universities. They also employ over 75,000 people on their campuses.

Pennsylvania independent colleges and universities strengthen families and communities, encourage civic activity and work toward a better world through strong international and national programs.

I hope you will join me in supporting Pennsylvania’s independent colleges and universities by cosponsoring this resolution.
