Subject: | Resolution designating the Month of June 2015 as “AIDS Education Month” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will be introducing a Resolution designating the Month of June 2015 as “AIDS Education Month” in Pennsylvania. The Resolution will also commend the work done by Philadelphia FIGHT as the organization marks the 21st Anniversary of AIDS Education Month. Philadelphia FIGHT is a Philadelphia based nonprofit organization that works regionally to help halt the AIDS epidemic within the lifetime of individuals now living with HIV. Since 1990, Philadelphia FIGHT has provided primary care, consumer education, advocacy, and advanced clinical research on potential treatments and vaccines for the benefit of persons living with HIV and those persons at risk for HIV transmission. While great strides have been made, the battle against AIDS is far from over. Those affected by the epidemic should have information and access to various forms of treatment. The goal of Philadelphia FIGHT is to end the AIDS epidemic and I applaud their resolve to fight until the discovery of an HIV/AIDS cure. With that said, there are AIDS Education Month community events slated throughout the month of June to facilitate prevention, outreach, and the continuum of care among target populations to promote greater awareness within the community at large. As such, it is for these reasons in mind and more that I am offering this Resolution. I invite you join me in co-sponsoring so together, we can facilitate greater awareness for this worthy cause.
