Subject: | Establishing STEMM Pathways Initiative and STEMM Opportunity Fund |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will establish a program designed to increase exposure, educational motivation and achievement of students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Manufacturing (STEMM). The economy of this Commonwealth is increasingly dependent upon innovation and technology. In order to continue to sustain job growth in the Commonwealth we must create a highly educated and well trained workforce with an emphasis on science and technology. All studies indicate that the earliest exposure to STEMM should be in the middle grades. This will establish a grant program to bring STEMM to the middle schools. It will be available to all districts in all counties throughout the Commonwealth. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation. |
