Subject: Resolution Celebrating the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company’s 100th Anniversary

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution congratulating the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company of Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County on its 100th anniversary.

The Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company was organized in October 1915 after a disastrous fire on the property of the Whitemarsh Inn completely destroyed a barn along with numerous cows, calves, and 100 turkeys which belonged to George Schwartz. Granted a state charter by Judge John Faber Miller on September 5, 1916, the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company has continued to serve the residents of Whitemarsh Township and the neighboring communities. The Fire Company responds to approximately 500 calls for service annually, and the volunteer time to the community is conservatively estimated at more than 8,000 hours annually. Barren Hill is a community staple and is essential to the welfare and safety of the residents of Whitemarsh Township and surrounding areas.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution as we honor and appreciate the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company for their continued service to the community for 100 years.
