Subject: | 60th Anniversary of the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy |
In the near future, we plan to introduce a House resolution to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy (PSFA). The PSFA delivers quality training, education, and professional certification, which is safe and meets or exceeds national standards. Their curriculum is very comprehensive and is responsive to all the educational needs of Pennsylvania's emergency responders. Along with the "Resident Training Program" conducted at the PSFA facility in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, the Academy is also responsible for delivering special resident curriculum locally to emergency service organizations through a statewide "Local Level Training Program". Each year this program delivers over 3,000 programs across the Commonwealth, with the majority of the programs conducted right in the fire department station. In addition, the PSFA administers the "Pennsylvania Fire Service Certification" program, which has certified over 6,000 emergency responders in the state. Furthermore, the Academy conducts training targeted specifically at Marcellus Shale gas production and alternative energy for our first responders. We are proud to recognize the PSFA’s 60 years of exemplary training, education, and service to the Commonwealth and welcome your cosponsorship of this resolution. |
