Subject: | 2015-16 Appropriation_ Pre-K Counts & Head Start Programs |
In the very near future, I will be introducing two pieces of legislation that would provide emergency funding into the General Fund. The first piece of legislation would appropriate $44.2 Million dollars for the Commonwealth’s Head Start program. This amount would be retroactive from July 1, 2015 until June 30, 2016 as a line item under Education. The second piece of attached legislation would appropriate $122.3 Million dollars into the General Fund for Pre-K Counts Program. Between the ages of 2 and 5 years old, are vital stepping stones for one’s ability to learn and grow. In these years one will develop motor, sensory and language skills. Likewise, they also develop their emotional, social and cognitive skills within this age range. These programs are essential if we’re going to provide an individual with a proper head start on their education and the world that awaits them. Therefore, I would like to ask that you support me by adding your name as a co-sponsor to this emergency funding bill. CD:cmc |
