Subject: | Honor the Victims and the People of Paris in the Aftermath of the Tragic Attacks in Their City |
On the evening of Friday the 13th of November, many residents of Paris, France were enjoying a warm fall evening as many of us might, by visiting with friends at a cafe, dining at a neighborhood restaurant, attending a sporting event or enjoying a concert. At about 9:20 p.m. Paris time, their peace was shattered and their lives changed forever. On this terrible evening seven terrorists attacked, killed and injured hundreds of innocent people, including citizens of 19 different nations at a stadium, two restaurants, two bars, one café and one concert hall. According to Paris officials, 129 people have died and many more have been injured. Countless families and friends are no doubt suffering, as well. These incidents were reminiscent of September 11, 2001 when our country was also victimized by the brutality of terrorists . . . as citizens of the United States, we truly feel the pain of the French nation. I believe that it is imperative that we honor the victims of these tragic attacks and the people of Paris who must live with their aftermath. Please join me in sponsoring a resolution that will communicate our sadness, support and condolences to the victims, their families and the residents of Paris. Let’s stand with Paris. Vive la France! |
