MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 6, 2016 06:49 PM
From: Representative Stephen Kinsey and Rep. Rosita C. Youngblood, Rep. Madeleine Dean, Rep. Dwight Evans
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Honoring Imhotep Institute Charter High School Football Team

In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing Philadelphia’s Imhotep Institute Charter High School football team for capturing the 2015 Class AAA State Football Championship. This is a tremendous accomplishment, as Imhotep became the first ever Philadelphia public league school to win a state football championship.

With a 40-3 victory over Erie’s Cathedral Prep on Dec. 18, 2015, the Imhotep Panthers Raiders, hailing from Northwest Philadelphia, captured their first ever state football championship. The team set a Class AAA title game record with 514 yards of total offense. Imhotep’s rushing total of 383 yards also set a Class AAA championship game record.

Winning the Class AAA state championship is the pinnacle of a perfect season for the Imhotep Panthers, as the team concluded with an undefeated 15-0 season, including a perfect 11-0 regular season. During their championship run, Imhotep outscored opponents 524-44 in the regular season, and dominated in the postseason, beating opponents by a combined score of 178-60.

Therefore, we hope you will join us in cosponsoring this resolution recognizing the accomplishments of Philadelphia’s Imhotep Panthers football team.
