Subject: | Designating May 2016 as “Military Service-Related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month” |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating May 2016 as “Military Service-Related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. During the month of May, VE Day, Military Spouse Day, Loyalty Day, Armed Forces Day & Memorial Day are all observed. Also, May has been designated by Congress as National Military Appreciation Month. Therefore, it is fitting that during May we also reflect on the serious disorder of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that affects many of our veterans and their families. PTSD causes emotional, social, physical, spiritual and communication challenges for both the veterans suffering from the disorder and their loved ones. Please join me by co-sponsoring this resolution so that we may increase awareness of PTSD. |
