Subject: | Resolution recognizing April 21, 2016 as “National D.A.R.E. Day” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a Resolution recognizing April 21, 2016 as “National D.A.R.E. Day” in Pennsylvania. National D.A.R.E. Day marks the progress of Drug Abuse Resistance Education programs in our communities and honors participating students, officers, schools, and law enforcement agencies. D.A.R.E. educators, family members and exemplary students who have made a commitment to remain drug free are appropriate role models for other students. Graduates of the program contribute to the safety our communities by resisting unsafe behaviors from having learned that violence and substance abuse affect a user as well as a user’s family and community. Finally, graduates of the program have learned the importance of open communication with their parents and mentors in their school community. Overall, community based programs like D.A.R.E. provide positive role models and reinforce positive behaviors among young people. Therefore, it is for these reasons and more that I am offering this Resolution. If you have any questions regarding this Resolution, please contact my Research Analyst -- Takesha Latham at (717) 705-1943 or via email at tlatham@pahouse.net. |
