Subject: | Boyertown’s 150th Anniversary Resolution |
May 2016 marks the beginning of Boyertown’s 150th anniversary celebration. The celebration will honor this Berks County community, for its rich history and the contributions of its residents to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The celebration will welcome both residents and visitors and will feature a variety of events, including a time capsule opening, a fun run, a parade and a block party. On October 20, 1866 the Boyertown was first incorporated. However, the history of this community dates to the 17th century when the area became a religious refuge for German settlers. Boyertown’s community is proud of its Pennsylvania German heritage and its small town charm. During the past 150 years, the people of Boyertown have built a varied and interesting place in history that spans across military, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and medicine among others. In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution commemorating Boyertown’s Sesquicentennial anniversary and honoring the people and events that have contributed to its rich history. Please join me in cosponsoring this timely resolution. |
