Subject: | Resolution honoring Richard "Dick" Anthony Allen |
In the near future I will be introducing a resolution honoring the legacy of baseball player Richard "Dick" Allen. Mr. Allen Played for the Phillies in the 1960's after graduating from high school. On September 3, 1963, Mr. Allen was called up from the minor leagues to make his major league debut for the Phillies in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Allen remained with the Phillies for six seasons making history by hitting an estimated 529 foot home run that cleared the Coca-Cola sign in Connie Mack Stadium's left-center field. Mr. Allen received many awards during his career. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1964, American League Most Valuable Player in 1972 and All Star for Seven seasons. Please join me in honoring the legacy of Richard "Dick" Anthony Allen as a standout baseball player and for his contributions to the Philadelphia Phillies with his record-breaking home runs. I therefore call for the voters on the Veterans Committee to elect him to the Baseball Hall of Fame Cooperstown, New York in 2017. |
