Subject: | Legislation – Lame Duck/Interregnum Sessions |
In the near future, I will be re-introducing Senate Bill 695 from last session. This bill would permanently prohibit the state legislature from holding votes in even-numbered years during the period of time following a general election and the swearing in of the new legislature. I have added a provision to also include a ban on votes during the period in January between the swearing-in of a new legislature and the swearing-in of a new Governor. There will be an exception made for special sessions of the legislature that are called by the Governor. Previous co-sponsors of SB 695 were Senators Boscola, Folmer, Vulakovich, and Vogel. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important reform measure. |
