Subject: | 75th Anniversary of the Pennsylvania Turnpike |
In the near future, we plan on introducing a resolution recognizing the 75th Anniversary of the Pennsylvania Turnpike celebrated on October 1st. The Pennsylvania Turnpike – known as “America’s First Superhighway" – forever changed the way Americans traveled and is considered to be one of Pennsylvania’s most treasured historic assets. The original, 160-mile section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike opened on October 1, 1940, welcoming motorists to travel between Carlisle and Irwin. Today, the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been expanded to 552 miles and carries more than 194 million vehicles a year. Please join us in co-sponsoring this very important resolution. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Nolan Ritchie, Senator Rafferty's Office, at nritchie@pasen.gov or Josh Myers, Senator Wozniak's Office, at jmyers@pasenate.com. |
