Subject: | Resolution Celebrating Boeing's 100th Anniversary |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Boeing Company, an industry leader in commercial and military aerospace and one of the largest employers in the 26th District. Boeing introduced the Douglas DC-3, the first widely-used passenger airplane. They then launched the modern era of jetliner travel with the introduction of the 707 and 747 and continues with new innovations in commercial travel with the 777 and 787. Through their military program Boeing has been a leader since World War II building such vehicles as the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-52 Stratofortress, CH-47 Chinook and V-22 Osprey. In Pennsylvania, Boeing employs nearly 5000 people through out the state in a wide variety of fields including engineering, and manufacturing and indirectly supports thousands of additional jobs. For more than 50 years Boeing Philadelphia's plant in my district has produced the CH-47 for the US Army and its allies as well as the V-22 for the US Marines and Air Force. I hope you will join me in celebrating and recognizing Boeing on their commitment to Pennsylvania workers and their milestone 100th anniversary. |
