Subject: | Designating October 2016 as “Bullying Prevention Awareness Month” |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution designating the month of October 2016 as “Bullying Prevention Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Bullying is defined as intentional, repeated behavior by one or more persons, which either physically or emotionally harms others. Bullying takes many forms and affects all classes, ages, religions, and communities without discrimination. Bullying affects 28 percent of students in grades 6 to 12 and 20 percent of students in grades 9 to 12, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The Department’s Office for Safe Schools maintains a webpage containing resources on bullying prevention for parents, educators and professionals who serve our youth in school and out-of-school. I hope you will join me in helping to raise awareness for bullying prevention in Pennsylvania. Thank you for considering co-sponsoring this resolution. |
