Subject: | Animal Abuse Prevention Task Force |
In the near future, we will be introducing a resolution directing the Joint State Government Commission to establish an Animal Abuse Prevention Task Force to conduct an analysis of laws for the prevention of animal cruelty and abuse and report its findings and recommendations to the Senate. According to the Humane Society of the United States, intentional cruelty to animals is strongly correlated with other crimes. On average, 1,920 cases of animal abuse and cruelty are reported each year. This resolution will direct the Joint State Government Commission to assemble an advisory committee of professional experts and organizations charged with the responsibility of analyzing current laws throughout the nation that seek to reduce instances of animal cruelty and abuse. The task force and Commission will examine the issue comprehensively and produce a final report with findings of fact, recommendations and any proposed legislative remedies. Please join us in this important effort by co-sponsoring and supporting this resolution. |
