Subject: | SPC5 George W. Charters, Jr. Memorial Highway |
We will soon introduce legislation that honors a man from Upper Dublin Township in Montgomery County, who gave his life in the Vietnam War. He has never been honored for his service and sacrifice. His mother is still living. We would like to get this bill through the legislature promptly, so that a formal dedication ceremony can be arranged as soon as possible. This family has waited long enough for their son to be honored. We wish to dedicate a portion of Fort Washington Avenue in Upper Dublin Township, Montgomery County, as the SPC5 George W. Charters, Jr. Memorial Highway. When SP5 George W. Charters, Jr. died on August 2, 1970, he was on his second tour in Vietnam, and he was serving in Gia Dinh Province in South Vietnam as part of the A Company, 1st Signal Brigade, 369th Signal Battalion, 43rd Signal Group. Please consider cosponsoring this important bill to honor this soldier who died in service to our nation. |
