Subject: | Creating the Pennsylvania Semiquincentennial Commission - USA250 |
In the year 2026 the United States of America will be celebrating it's 250th birthday. Plans are already underway to prepare for this monumental celebration which will take place in Philadelphia. The U.S. Congress last year passed the Semiquincentennial Commission Act of 2016 creating a Commission to plan and execute a nationwide celebration based in Philadelphia in 2026. Now, before any other State, Pennsylvania has an opportunity to lead in planning its own role in this historic event and establish the Pennsylvania Commission. As in 1876, 1926, and 1976, the Country's birthday will be hosted in Philadelphia, America's birthplace. The Semiquincentennial will be a celebration of all 50 states; it will invite the world to come join Americans in this celebration of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. The Pennsylvania Semiquincentennial Commission will guide, plan, allocate funds, and oversee the state's participation in this celebration. We hope you will join the members of the House Tourism Committee in supporting this legislation. |
