Subject: | September - National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month |
Please join me as I introduce a resolution recognizing the month of September as National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. More than 450,000 Americans, 42,000 of which are veterans, suffer from spine-related injuries. 17,000 new SCI cases are reported each year. This month of awareness offers an opportunity for individuals to learn about spinal cord injuries, recognize the daily challenges encountered by injured persons, and acknowledge the achievements of those Americans living with a spinal cord injury. If there’s one thing we should all be aware of during National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, it’s that people can and will adapt to the challenges of living with a spinal cord injury and discover new roads to excel in life. In recognition of all those affected by and working to address spinal cord-related injuries, I hope you will join me in recognizing September 2016 as National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month. |
